Scholarships are a reward given to applicants based on final results and accumulate, as per the examples below.
Scholarships will be awarded via cash/credit prior to the Christmas break in December.
In order to be eligible for the UAMS you will need to apply to the University via UCAS by 29 January 2021 and accept our offer on a firm basis by 20 May 2021.
Any student is only eligible for one bursary, grant or scholarship type in any single academic year.

2021/2022 Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarship (UAMS)
The University offers an Undergraduate Academic Merit Scholarship to reward applicants who have demonstrated outstanding academic ability.
Value: These are awarded automatically (no application necessary) based on final results, as shown in the example below:

- For 1 x ‘A’ in A-levels or Distinction at BTEC, or equivalent: £500 for 2 Years - £500 at year 1.
- For 1 x ‘A’ in A-levels or Distinction at BTEC, or equivalent: £1,000 for 2 Years - £1,000 at year 1.
- For 3 x ‘A’ in A-levels or Distinction at BTEC, or equivalent: £2,000 for 2 Years - £1,000 each year.
PLEASE NOTE: in order to be eligible for these scholarships, you must meet the publicised course entry requirements at the time of enrolment.

- Tariff increase:
+ Courses that have 96-112 UCAS tariff points - applicants will have to meet 112 to be awarded.
+ Courses that have 104-120 UCAS tariff points - applicants will have to meet 120 to be awarded.
- This scholarship is based on UK standard qualifications (previous qualifications are subject to a time-frame of three years) and is open to students from the UK, EU, EEA and from overseas who are self-financing (not sponsored by their government or employer).
- It cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship, bursary or fee discount. The scholarship will be issued as credit on cash/credit in December to eligible students.

2021/2022 Direct Entry Academic Merit Scholarship (DAMS)
Value: Scholarships are a reward given to applicants based on final results and accumulate, as per the examples below. Scholarships will be awarded as a tuition fee credit between £500 and £1,000.
The University offers a Direct Entry (Year 3 and Top-up) Academic Merit Scholarship as a way to reward students who have demonstrated outstanding academic ability. These are awarded automatically (no application necessary) based on final results, as shown in the examples below. For example, the scholarship for merit profile is £500 total and given in the semester one. For distinction profile, the award is £1,000 and also given in the semester one.

2021/2022 International Academic Merit Scholarships (IAMS) - Overseas/international students (non-EU)
Value: The University is pleased to offer, as a tuition fee reduction, a limited number of International academic merit scholarships of between £1,000 and £2,000 for applicants from overseas (non-EU countries) who are studying a full-time degree level course (not at foundation level) and who exceed the entry criteria for their course. The scholarships are awarded as £500, £1,500 and £2,000 for both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

- To qualify, students must currently be studying an international qualification or be studying for an international foundation programme in the UK with an 'unconditional firm' offer on a full-time course (previous qualifications are subject to a time-frame of three years).
- Applicants must be self-funded and not sponsored by their government or employer. The scholarship does not apply to Study Abroad students. The scholarship is awarded automatically (no application process) on a 'first-come, first-served' basis as tuition fee reduction. It cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarships or bursaries.

2021/2022 Dean's Scholarships - International non-EU students
The University is pleased to offer a Dean's scholarship scheme aimed at supporting students who have achieved academic excellence.
Value: Tuition fee reduction of £2,500 based on the full annual fee of the course.
Key Information
To be eligible, students must
- Have applied to start a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate course at Solent University (main campus).
- Not be progressing from a Solent University programme.
- Hold an unconditional offer which has been firmly accepted.
- Be a self-funded full fee student (not sponsored by their government or employer).
- Be classified as an international (non-EU) student for fees purposes.
Application process and award timescales
- Applicants will automatically be considered for the Dean’s Scholarship; there is no need to apply for it.
- Applicants will only be considered on qualifications completed within two years.
- Applicants will be notified on application of a potential scholarship. This will then be confirmed in July 2021 (for September 2021 entry), October 2021 (for January 2022 entry) or February 2022 (for May 2022 entry).
- As Dean’s scholarships are subject to limited availability, not all potential scholarships will lead to an actual award of a scholarship. They will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis, once results have been confirmed and verified.
- The Dean’s scholarship is awarded at the start of the course as a tuition fee reduction, based on the full annual fee of the course.
- The scholarship is awarded for the first year of study only.
Academic criteria
- Successful applicants will meet pre-determined minimum entry requirements set for the Dean’s Scholarship.

- Scheme is applicable to following intakes: September 2021, January 2022 or May 2022
- The Dean’s scholarship will be reduced pro-rata in line with any fee waivers applied upon suspension or withdrawal from study.
- Solent University has sole discretion to assign, vary or withdraw this award.
- Students who defer their place will not be eligible for the scholarship.
- Students can only be eligible for one of Solent’s scholarship awards.
- Allocation of this award is based on these terms and conditions; there is no appeal process.

2021/2022 Sport scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to athletes competing at national and international levels in a variety of sports, including - but not exclusively - basketball, cricket and football.
Value:
- Platinum: up to £5,000
- Gold: up to £3,000
- Silver: up to £1,000
- Bronze: performance club offer (access to team support services)
