1. 2021/2022 VICE-CHANCELLOR SCHOLARSHIPS 

Available for all full-time undergraduate courses starting in September 2021. New students with advanced standing into Years 2 or 3 can also be considered.

Value: 50% of the Tuition Fee for Year 1 (split 50/50 as a discount in your Tuition Fee and a discount in your Accommodation Fees)*

* the scholarship is shared equally as a discount in your Tuition Fees and discount in your Accommodation Fees if you book a room in University Managed Halls of Residence, e.g. If you have been awarded a total scholarship of £8,000, £4,000 will go towards your tuition fees and £4,000 towards your accommodation fees. 

Note: Students may continue to receive a scholarship of up to £3,000 in Years 2 and 3, subject to achieving a minimum overall grade of 70% or above at the end of Years 1 and 2.

Key Information:

  • The Vice-Chancellor scholarship is for outstanding international applicants with:
  • A strong academic background 

and 

  • Notable achievements in extra-curricular activities which could include a range of activities such as voluntary and community work; sporting excellence; excellence in the arts; leaderships roles; fund-raising; representing their region or country in national or international conferences; quality work placements or proven entrepreneurship skills. 
  • Conditions (for all scholarship winners): 
  • Students must have met all the academic and other conditions of their offer by 1st September, 2021 (unless studying a Pre-sessional English course with ELCOS).
  • Half of the scholarship amount will be offered in the form of a reduction in tuition fees and the remaining half as a contribution towards the cost of University managed accommodation. 
  •  Students not taking up a place in university managed accommodation will forfeit 50% of the scholarship (except in exceptional circumstances where university accommodation would not be a suitable option).This scholarship will replace any previous scholarship awarded by Bangor University for September 2021 entry and will NOT be in addition to.
  • Students must be paying International Tuition Fee levels.
  • Recipients will be expected to become scholarship ambassadors, contributing to University promotion both as  students and in later years as alumni.
  • The scholarship is only valid for students starting their studies in September 2021 and cannot be carried over to the following academic year.
  • All scholarships will be awarded entirely at the University's discretion.

2. 2021/2022 DEANS SCHOLARSHIPS

Available for all undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses starting in the September 2021 and January 2022 intakes. 

Value: 

Undergraduate

£4,000 for Year 1 (split 50/50 as a discount in your Tuition Fee and a discount in your Accommodation Fees)*

up to £2,000 per year for Year 2 & 3**

Postgraduate

Up to £5,000 (split 50/50 as a discount in your Tuition Fee and a discount in your Accommodation Fees)*

* Note: the scholarship is shared equally between your Tuition fees and Accommodation fees e.g. If you have been awarded a total scholarship of £4,000, £2,000 will go towards your tuition fees and £2,000 towards your accommodation fees. 

** Note: Year 2 and 3 awards will be dependent on Undergraduate students achieving an overall average grade of 50% or higher in Years 1 and 2 (respectively).

Note:

  • Candidates who are fully sponsored by a third party will not be entitled to these Scholarships.
  • The above scholarships are not open to UK/EU applicants.
  • The above scholarships are available for full-time on-campus courses only(Note: students who may have to study online due to travel restrictions caused by Covid-19 (where the course would normally be delivered on-campus) will remain eligible for the scholarship).
  • Conditions (for all scholarship winners): 
  • Half of the scholarship amount will be awarded in the form of a reduction in tuition fees and the remaining half as a contribution towards the cost of University managed accommodation. Students not taking up a place in university managed accommodation will forfeit 50% of the scholarship (except in exceptional circumstances where university accommodation would not be a suitable option).
  • Recipients will be expected to become scholarship ambassadors, contributing to University promotion both as students and in later years as alumni.
  • The scholarship is only valid for courses starting in September 2021 or January 2022 and cannot be deferred to the following year.
  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other Bangor University Scholarship (with the exception of the Alumni/Existing Students/Family Discount).

3. 2021/2022 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE SCHOLARSHIPS 

Available for all Postgraduate Taught (Masters degree) courses starting in January 2022

Value: Postgraduate - Up to £4,000. 

Key Information:

Eligibility

  • A minimum of 2 years professional work experience in a managerial position. 
  • Candidates who are fully sponsored by a third party will not be entitled to these Scholarships.
  • The above scholarships are not open to UK/EU applicants.
  • The above scholarships are available for full-time on-campus courses only. 

Note: students who may have to study online due to travel restrictions caused by Covid-19 (where the course

would normally be delivered on-campus) will remain eligible for the scholarship).

  • All scholarships will be awarded entirely at the University's discretion.
  • Conditions (for all scholarship winners):
  • The scholarship will be awarded in the form of a reduction in tuition fees.
  • This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship offered by the University. If the recipient gets awarded more than one scholarship through various schemes, he/she will retain the highest value scholarship.
  • Recipients will be expected to become scholarship ambassadors, contributing to University promotion both as students and in later years as alumni.

4. 2021/2022 ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP 

Tuition fee discount & scholarships for Bangor University Alumni and their family. 

Value: Additional Alumni discount of £1,000. 

Key Information:

  • If you are a Bangor Alumni, and an international student, then you and your immediate family (spouse/siblings/children/grandchildren) are entitled to a tuition fee discount for any degree programmes that you choose to study at Bangor University in future.
  • For any Undergraduate or Postgraduate courses undertaken at Bangor University by you as an international Bangor alumni or by member of your immediate family, who is also an international student, then you/they will receive a £1,000 discount off your/their tuition fees, per year of study, in addition to any other international scholarship you/they are entitled to.
  • When applying to Bangor University please mark clearly on the application form that you are eligible for the Bangor Alumni Discount.

5. 2021/2022 SNOWDON MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS 

Snowdon Trust provides grants to physically disabled and sensory impaired students studying in the UK. Established by the First Earl of Snowdon, who contracted polio as a child, the trust has gone on to support over 2,700 students through higher education. 

The Snowdon Masters Scholarships have been designed to identify and accelerate talented disabled individuals through higher education.

Value: £30,000  (£15,000 towards your tuition fees and a £15,000 allowance while studying). 

Key Information:

  • The scholarship is open to national and international disabled students with the ability to create change, including excellence within a chosen field of study, or the ability to demonstrate leadership through work place or extracurricular activities.
  • Exceptional leaders, with the ability to create change within and beyond their academic field Individuals that have shown excellence within their chosen subjects
  • Those that have demonstrated leadership potential with a proven drive for success
  • Ability to create change and drive disability issues
  • Proven achievements in academia, employment or voluntary activities
  • This scholarship is targeted to both students who have recently competed an undergraduate course, and those returning to study from the workplace or following a career break.

6. GLOBAL WALES POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME 2021 

Study in Wales are pleased to confirm a prestigious new scholarship programme for international students wishing to study at a Welsh University in 2021. The Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship Programme 2021 is the first scholarship of its kind in Wales and is funded by the Global Wales Programme – a partnership between the Welsh Government, Universities Wales, The British Council and HEFCW. 

Value: £10,000, three scholarships are available under this scheme through Bangor University.

Key Information:

  • Study Level: Postgraduate Taught – A one year Masters course studied on a full time basis beginning in September 2021.
  • You must be classed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes, and from either Vietnam, India, the USA or a country in the European Union.
  • You must have submitted an application to study at Bangor University for a Master’s programme starting in 2021 before applying for the scholarship, click here to apply to study at Bangor University.
  • This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship offered by the University.
  • If you are awarded a scholarship, you agree to act as a good ambassador for the Study in Wales brand and at times will be asked to participate in events or promotional activities. Any involvement in these activities will take up no more than five hours per term.

7. 2021/2022 HEADS OF SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP 

For all Postgraduate Research Programmes (PHD, MPhil, Masters by research) starting in the academic year 2021/22. 

Value: 10% reduction in the published Postgraduate Research tuition fee for each year of study.  Continuation of the scholarship to the next academic year is subject to acceptable academic progression. 

Key Information:

  • The Head of Schools scholarship is open to self- and partially-funded international and EU candidates. Candidates who are fully sponsored by a third party will not be entitled to these Scholarships.
  • The scholarship is for successful international candidates who do not have the equivalent of a 1st class or distinction in Masters, but who the Academic School have deemed to be worthy of an offer of admission. 
  • Both part-time and full-time Postgraduate Research candidates will be considered for this scholarship.
  • Students must be paying International Tuition Fee levels.
  • The Scholarship is only valid for students starting their studies in the academic year of 2021/22 and cannot be carried over to the following academic year.
  • Awards will be made for a maximum period of 3 years (or equivalent for part-time study) subject to acceptable academic progression. The scholarship will be forfeited for the next academic year if academic performance proves substandard. 
  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other Bangor University Scholarship (with the exception of the Alumni/Existing Students/Family Discount).
  •  Recipients will be expected to become scholarship ambassadors, contributing to Bangor University promotional activities both as students and in later years as alumni.
  • Students must be paying International Tuition Fee levels.
  • EU students that are eligible to pay UK Tuition Fee levels (because they have settled or pre-settled status) CANNOT be considered for this scholarship.
  • All scholarships will be awarded entirely at the University's discretion
